So I'm pleased to announce that Jackson Perry Lee was born at 10:35 a.m. today. Both baby and mommy are well and recovering from an exciting morning. Here's the story...
We left this morning at 10 after 6 and began the whole induction process. At 9:15 Christie's O.B. came in and broke her water and she was 75% effaced and dilated to a 3. We figured we had some time and in about an hour, our nurse came back in. She saw that Jack's blood pressure had dropped and when she checked Christie, she found the umbilical cord instead. The cord had prolapsed which basically means the cord was coming out before the baby. Because of this, they needed to do an emergency C-section. Everyone was calm in the room and I put on my white suit of awesomeness ready to go. When he got into the hallway, all of the nurses and doctors began to run yelling for everyone to get out of the way. Suddenly this calm routine procedure seemed not so routine. We made it to the O.R. despite one nurse falling flat on her face in the hectic run and brutally bruising her knee. She was in and the baby was out, but very gray and not moving or breathing. The respitory guy finally (in what seemed like forever) got him breathing again and then they put him in NICU to recover and regain his blood supply. Because his cord was pinched off, he was losing blood out of the umbilical cord, and not getting any back. Now, he is pink and doing really well. In a matter of minutes they weren't so worried about him anymore, which was a relief.
Jackson latched on for the first time very easily and ate like a pro. He is quite and calm and very cute. Mom has had the obvious pain and is exhausted and handled the stress much better than dad. From what the doctors told us, everything worked out perfectly in that situation and we feel very blessed that it happened that way. If we would have been out of the hospital when the water broke, we would have been in trouble. Because Christie got her epidural just minutes before the emergency, they were able to dope her up on the way to the O.R. which saved several minutes and Jackson coming out as well as he did. Also we had the best (and we seriously mean the best) anethesiologist ever. He stood next to us during the surgery and told us what was going on and kept comforting us throughout. He also was very kind and gentle with Christie and she said it was the best epidural she's had yet. Our nurses were all great and sacraficed to help, besides the bruised knee, Christie's actual nurse, Lori, sat on the bed through the hallway and held Jackson's head off of the cord, while he was still inside until the could pull him out, which I think was a heroic act. All in all, we felt our Heavenly Father with us and feel thankful that he allowed everything to work out. Well, you've been reading long enough now here are a few pictures below and we'll add some more later, when we get them. Enjoy!

Wow what a entrance to this world Jackson made!! I'm glad everything is good now! He's such a cute little guy! Hope you get feeling great soon Christie! Let's try and get together FINALLY and catch up once you're feeling up to it!
Congratulations!! We are so happy that everything worked out well. It really sucks that you had to have a c-section though, but more importantly Jackson is okay. When I told Eric about the nurse holding the head while still in Christie, he said that he would have done that same! I know that sounds different than what he ment, but if they arrive on scene to a women experiencing the same thing, they have to do the same thing all the way to the hospital in the Ambulance and into delivery. It still totally amazes me that Eric absolutly loves his job, with all the crazy gross things that he has to do, how does a guy who can't stand a "double dip" stick his hand in some strangers personal areas and not get totally grossed out?!?!
He is so cute, what a little angel! When you are feeling better we would love to come for a visit.
Wow...that's a scary, yet amazing story. I'm glad that everything worked out in the end. Great job keeping it together...it's hard to do in those situations. I can't wait to meet Jackson...and I love the name!
Welcome baby Jackson into the world! Wow, two girls, two boys! I'm sorry to hear about the complications...but I sure am glad everything has worked out in the end! I can't wait to meet the little guy!
