Macy's first traumatic injury

At just after midnight, we heard a loud crash and then hysterical wailing. Macy came walking toward our bedroom with a rush of blood on her face. Apparently she had fallen out of her bed and hit her face on the corner of an open dresser drawer. After inspection we decided it was time to take her to the emergency room. The doctors did a great job treating Macy. She was sedated and then they managed to put about 20 stitches in her head. We feel blessed for many reasons. One big one is the placement of the cut. When it heals it will be around her eyebrow, which won't be as noticeable. Also, she was only a couple of centimeters from having that corner hit her in the eye, which could have been real bad. The doctor said that the wound was better than he initially thought and closing it was pretty easy and there should be minimal scarring. Macy was so brave and strong throughout the entire visit and she is back to being the happy, crazy, and curious Macy that we all love.

Ensign Peak

This morning, being the 24th of July (for those who don't know it is a state holiday in Utah. It is the day the pioneers settled into the valley in 1847), we decided to hike up to Ensign Peak. Ensign Peak (you don't have to read if you already know) is where Mormon leaders hiked up to survey the valley two days after they reached the Salt Lake Valley. This peak gives a view of the entire valley and is pretty cool. The girls were troopers. Even though the hike was shorter than our last hike, it was steeper, but the girls walked the entire way! We had fun reading the different plaques about pioneers and spent a little time on top just enjoying the cooler weather; our thermometer read 71 degrees on top, it was closer to 90 at the bottom. Here are some pictures, enjoy.

Here are a couple of misc. pics that I found while cleaning out our memory card.

I thought this was a cute picture of Logan.

Here is our new car; it's a 2003 Honda Odyssey. We bought it with 37000 miles, although we have since put on about 2200 in three weeks.

Cali

Well, I finally got around to getting some pictures up from our little vacation. I am a little sad though, because I didn't feel like taking many pictures this trip. I don't know why, but here are some that we did end up taking. The reason for the trip was that Christie's good friend Adam was getting married and we wanted to attend. We had fun being in California. Check it out.

Here are pictures from the wedding.

Here we are with Brian, Lara and their daughter.

Hey Ya'll

It has been awhile since we have posted anything. We have some pictures that we may put up soon, or not. Anyways, Dave's computer fried itself so that is one reason why things have not been updated lately. Also, we are in California for the time being. We came up about a week ago and are planning on another week. We have had fun, except for the crazy heat! We heard from somewhere (not necessarily a reliable source) that it got to 111 degrees! We cooled off on the fifth of July at the beach where it was only 75. We got in the water and had a great time boogie boarding. Dave hadn't been for about two years so he was anxious to get in the water and soon everyone else joined in despite the frigid ocean temps. We also had a great 4th of July. We spent the afternoon staying cool in the house and played some mean games of ping pong. Scott and Melissa Rice came down and we took the kiddies all swimming. It was fun and we were dry after walking about 100 yards to the car. Dave cooked up some barbeque and we went over to the university (CSUS) to watch their firework show. It was good fun. Well, we hope that everyone is having a good summer and enjoying themselves. We will try and get some pictures up at some point. I guess we really haven't taken that many lately either. Oh well.
Oh, one more thing...We finally got a new car. Even though Christie's little car had treated us fairly well, there was no way we could fit three car seats in the back. We had been using Don and Carolyn's Camry, which held us fine, but we were sure they were sick of us using it. After I signed my contract for next year, we went down and picked out a Honda Odyssey. It is a beige 2003 with 37000 miles on it so it should last us for a long while. See you later.
